We all know to be quiet in the mornings,
To be quiet at night.
It’s a common human decency, a courtesy.
So we all speak during the day
And leave the darkness out.
We all know not to mention dead mothers,
To walk on eggshells about drugged brothers.
It’s a common human decency, a courtesy.
So we all speak carefully
And leave the darkness out.
We all know to open our minds completely
To accept things we once thought evil. And still do.
It’s a common decency, a courtesy.
So we all speak with pleasant silence.
And leave the darkness out.
We all know to never be ourselves,
To fake a more palpable version 2.0.
It’s a common decency, a courtesy.
So we all speak in false voices
And leave the darkness out.
